"During the passage through Saturn's ring, a gravitational wave began to interfere with the system, presenting a periodicity between each pulse, which had consistently the same strength and direction. These pulses were recorded and analyzed, being reinterpreted within a musical time signature of 88bpm and by FM synthesizers to achieve the strongest melodic movements. It is evident that this contact is more an expression of movement and transformation, without melodic construction or any attempt to communicate through a language code."

“The first moments out of the atmosphere are the most harrowing, as your ear has been abruptly torn from the comfort there was on earth, and now you are placed in the void of space – what you hear is the resounding of beings far away. 

This change brings a resignification to all fundamental sounds that we know, mainly due to the fact that our sound frequency range is quite limited (we expanded the sound range from 1 hz to 100 khz, to capture the most diverse oscillations of space, transforming them to our hearing range).

This is the beginning of an intergalactic search for artifacts, records, impressions and interactions with key resonances echoing across the vast infinity of stars.” 

Each logbook will have an audiotrack, an oscillator gif and a brief description of the encounter.

Lucy MK1 is a generative art project developed on Ableton Live and MaxLive by tuneofworms.

Exploring generative music, Lucy MK1 is an automaton written to compose musical pieces entirely from ordered randomness through midi commands interpreted by VSTs and samplers.

After the musical composition, it is inserted again into MAXLIVE to be read and reinterpreted in the form of a pixelart animation, using the output generated by the instruments as parameters for the video synthesis.

When finished, the animation is exported in GIF and the music in WAV.
