Bundle Up

At the house that my best friend grew up in
There's a man with a knife at the door
He's cut off the power and all means of escape
And I know what happens next
Because he's done this before

So I look out the window
Just to see the crazy hook in his smile
That tells me I should bundle up for the winter
I'm gonna be stuck inside for awhile

In the house that I once put my faith in
There's a man with a pen in his hand
With a power that I couldn't fathom
And a mind that is drowning in sand
He's caught in a moment with no way to escape
He could make a decision that sends us all to the grave

So I stare in the window
Just to see the glassy look in his eyes
That tells me I should bundle up for the winter
I'm gonna be stuck inside for awhile

No one should have this power
No one should have to make these impossible decisions
But this is the world of our fathers
That we must remake in the image we want
It’s not too late for our daughters and sons  

So I break out the windows
Just as fire begins to rain on my roof
I know I should have raised my voice even sooner
But I just didn't know what I had to do

So cut the head off the serpent
And anyone who beats the cursed drums of war 
And bury them inside our hearts for forever 
Or we’ll forget what this moment was for
